{"id":10917,"date":"2020-04-27T09:25:06","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T09:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=10917"},"modified":"2020-04-27T09:25:11","modified_gmt":"2020-04-27T09:25:11","slug":"lockdown-fct-mobile-courts-convict-two-pastors-three-imams-68-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=10917","title":{"rendered":"Lockdown: FCT mobile courts convict two pastors, three Imams, 68 others."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thenationonlineng.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/court-12-600x375.jpg\" alt=\"Two in court for \u2018obtaining N4.47m under false pretences\u2019\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A mobile court sitting at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Sunday convicted five clerics \u2013 three Imams and two pastors \u2013 for breaching the government\u2019s lockdown order to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were convicted by Presiding Magistrate Idayat Akonni to one month imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Akonni gave them an option of a fine of N5,000 in addition to a supervised community service for one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The convicts are: Imam Abdullahi Mohammed of Gwarinpa Estate; Imam Suleiman Idris of Mobi Close, Area 11, Garki and Deputy Imam Useni Umar of the same addresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others are: Pastor Phillips Olumbori of Celestial Church of Christ, Lugbe and Rev. Moses Chinedu of Mercy City Gospel Centre, Aco Estate, Lugbe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing reporters after the court verdict, the Chairman FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task Team on COVID-19 Operations, Ikharo Attah, said the various mobile courts, which sat at different locations within the territory, convicted over 73 violators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the judgment, he said: \u201cThe verdict, though mild, is a welcome development.
