{"id":11114,"date":"2020-04-28T09:48:47","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T09:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=11114"},"modified":"2020-04-28T09:48:53","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T09:48:53","slug":"churches-mosques-remain-closed-despite-partial-lockdown-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=11114","title":{"rendered":"Churches, mosques remain closed despite partial lockdown \u2013 Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/media.premiumtimesng.com\/wp-content\/files\/2020\/04\/EWooR6mX0AABl9l.jpg?fit=860%2C632&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"President Muhammadu Buhari [PHOTO: Presidency]\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), says religious centres in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States remain closed despite the \u201cgradual easing\u201d of lockdown in the three states beginning from Monday next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He made this known on Monday night during an address to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President stated that there would be curfew in place beginning Monday when the easing of lockdown in the three states becomes effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasised that despite the partial lockdown, churches, mosques and other religious centres were not allowed to meet till further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.punchng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/19193035\/Aglican-Church.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-513265\"\/><figcaption>File photo: The Diocese of Ekiti West, the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He, however, urged them to assist the government in sensitising their members on measures to take to prevent the spread of the virus including the mandatory use of face mask, social distancing, good hygiene, amongst others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cThe restrictions on social and religious gatherings shall remain in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will also recognise the support we have received from our traditional rulers, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and other prominent religious and community leaders.
