{"id":11990,"date":"2020-05-05T14:53:51","date_gmt":"2020-05-05T14:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=11990"},"modified":"2020-05-05T14:53:58","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T14:53:58","slug":"yaradua-was-a-president-like-no-other-says-jonathan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=11990","title":{"rendered":"Yar\u2019Adua was a President like no other, says Jonathan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thenationonlineng.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/goodluck-jonathan-chibok-girls-parents.png\" alt=\"President Yar'Adua\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday described his late boss, Umaru Musa Yar\u2019Adua as a President like no other who lived and died for the sake of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many believe the former Katsina Governor was best leader of Africa\u2019s most populous nation since the return to multi-party democracy in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was the second civilian President under Nigeria\u2019s current constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yar\u2019Adua took office in 2007 and led for 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He died at 58 in ten years old and was flown back for burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His known cause of death was said to be pericarditis \u2013 inflammation of a membrane around the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yar\u2019Adu was succeeded by his then Vice-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonathan who completed Yar\u2019Adua\u2019s term and won a substantive term in 2011 was among the first to post a message of remembrance of his former boss on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Yar\u2019Adua built strong bridges of hope, love and understanding for which he became a force for national unity and positive change across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonathan\u2019s message reads in part: \u201cIt has been a decade since His Excellency President Umar Musa Yar\u2019Adua was snatched by the cold hands of death. On this day, every year, his image fills our consciousness as a mark of his selflessness, typical modesty and exceptional flair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe was a President like no other who lived and died for the sake of his country. He stood on the side of the people, toiling day and night to make their lives better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn many ways he stood out. He had an accommodating spirit and enormous goodwill that secreted a web around our national fault lines to strengthen the bond; thus leaving for his successors the task of reinforcing the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Yar\u2019Adua no doubt left enduring legacies in his wholehearted devotion to the ideals of democracy, respect for peoples\u2019 rights, freedoms and reason for living as well as commitment to the rule of law and laws of equity and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will continue to remember President Yar\u2019Adua as a colleague and boss who became my brother and friend\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday described his late boss, Umaru Musa Yar\u2019Adua as a President like no other who lived and died for the sake of the country.
