Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi<\/a>, said Wednesday 700 persons had been arrested for allegedly entering the state illegally despite the ban on interstate travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umahi, who disclosed this after a joint meeting of the State Security Council and COVID-19 Committee, said the violators who were arrested across the state are currently being quarantined at the Pa Oruta Ngele Township Stadium in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the state government would decentralize the quarantine procedure to the 64 Development Centres and the 13 local government areas of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor said: \u201cFrom henceforth, anybody entering the state should be taken to the nearest development centre and quarantined there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile there, they will be monitored by the medical teams. Anyone who manifests symptoms of COVID-19 will then be brought to Abakaliki holding centre for tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
