The Niger State<\/a> Government on Thursday dismissed claims by COVID-19 patients in the state that they were being kept under poor living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The patients had earlier on Thursday protested the unhygienic conditions of the isolation facility and asked the state government to address the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the government, in a statement, described the purported protest as an attempt to discredit its efforts at combating the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the government, it was a female patient and her family members who were protesting her isolation at the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement read: \u201cThere are two toilet facilities, one for females and one for males. The isolation center has 24 hours of electricity, having been connected to a 33KVA and standby generator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relations of the patient did not want the woman to be quarantined. So, they started making trouble, demanding her release. Out of mischief, they also went on to do a video in order to discredit the efforts of the state government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
