A Pakistan International Airlines plane has crashed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight PK8303 crashed on Friday near the neighbourhood of Model Colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 100 people were on board the Airbus A320.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plane hit the ground in a residential area in Karachi and there are fears of additional casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karachi is the country\u2019s most populated city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airline spokesperson Abdullah Khan told CNN that the pilot had complained of technical problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe had been told both landing strips were available for his use but he preferred to use the go-around landing route, we are looking into the technical issue. Our prayers for the lives that have been lost\u201d, Khan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Imran Khan said he was sad about the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShocked & saddened by the PIA crash. Am in touch with PIA CEO Arshad Malik, who has left for Karachi & with the rescue & relief teams on ground as this is the priority right now. Prayers & condolences go to families of the deceased,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rescue efforts by emergency responders and the military are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger flights resumed in Pakistan just a week ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
