The\nFederal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo\nhas approved the sum of N1.7 billion for the construction of jetty at the Bonny\nIsland in Rivers.

\nMinister\nof State for Transportation Gbemisola Saraki made the disclosure while briefing\nState House correspondents on Wednesday after the FEC meeting at the\nPresidential Villa, Abuja.
\n
\n\u201cToday,\nthe Ministry of Transportation presented a memo for the approval of award of\ncontract for the construction of jetty at Bonny Island in Rivers State.
\n
\n\u201cThis\napproval was sought and was duly given.
\n
\n\u201cSome\nyears ago, we had a jetty at Bonny Island; it collapsed and now creating a huge\nproblem for tug boats and pilotage.
\n
\n\u201cSo, what happened\nis that the pilot\u2019s lounge is actually in Bonny; so boats used come all the way\nfrom Port Harcourt to pick up the pilots.
\n
\n\u201cIt was\nadvertised in late 2017 and today, the council gave approval in the tune of\nN1.7 billion and it will be completed in 15 months.\u2019\u2019

\nOn the\nbill proposing death penalty for hate speech at the National Assembly, Saraki\nsaid it had not yet become a law, adding that hate speech was also in the\nCyber-crime Act.
\n
\nShe said\nthat the sponsor of the bill might have put the death penalty there, but it had\nnot become an Act.
\n
\n\u201c I think\nwe are jumping the gun a bit, like you said he is proposing the bill; it is not\nyet an act.
\n
\n\u201cBe that\nas it may, there is a law already in Nigeria, the Cybercrime Act that has the\nhate speech aspect in it.
\n
\n\u201cI stand\nto be corrected; I think it was passed 2014\/2015; I am not particularly sure\nbut there is a law that takes care of that.
\n
\n\u201cBecause\ncybercrime now a major issue and as you are known internationally, world over,\neverybody is concerned about it being the new frontier to fight crime.
\n
