Lagos\nState government has assured local boat builders of patronage, not only to\nstrengthen the economy but to enhance interest in water transportation and\ndecongest the roads in line with the vision of making water transportation one\nof the best alternatives to road travel.

\nThe\nManaging Director, Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), Mr. Abdoulbaq\nLadi-Balogun gave the assurance during an inspection tour of two major boat\nfactories, V-Craft and Sierra Craft, in Lagos State on Monday.
\n
\nHe\naffirmed the government’s commitment to efficient water transportation system,\nsaying LAGFERRY has been mandated to identify and patronize local builders who\nhave the capacity to build and adhere strictly to international standard\npractices.
\n
\n\u201cWe want\nto build an eco-system and ensure everybody is carried along in achieving the\nmulti-modal transportation initiative of the present administration to\ndecongest the roads, so any manufacturer that meets our criteria will be\npatronized. We want to encourage local investors, particularly those that have\nan interest in water transportation to patronize the manufacturers of these\nboats\u201d, he stated.

\nWhile\ndisclosing the State government’s intention to roll out commercial ferry services\nin the next couple of weeks, Ladi-Balogun assured Lagosians of a new experience\nin water transportation driven by the latest technology and built on safety,\nreliability, efficient services, comfort and value for money.

\nResponding,\nthe Managing Director, Sierra Craft, Mr. Olusegun Jaji expressed delight at the\ninterest of the State government in developing local water transportation,\nespecially with assurances to local builders that they would enjoy government\npatronage, expressing his delight at this administration\u2019s commitment to\nimproving and increasing water transportation.

\nHe\nasserted his company’s capability of producing and delivering world-class boats\nof international standard as required by the State government, maintaining that\nindustry players are also ready to key into the vision of the present\nadministration to improve water transportation as a means of decongesting the\nheavy traffic situation on Lagos roads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
