President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina<\/a>, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Personal Assistant on New Media to the President, Bashar Ahmad, disclosed this on his Twitter handle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmad said: \u201cPresident @MBuhari receives President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. @Akin_Adesina this afternoon, at the State House, Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States Department of Treasury had called for an independent probe of corruption allegations against Adesina despite being cleared by the bank\u2019s ethics committee headed by Takuji Yano on May 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Department accused the AfDB president<\/a> of allegedly breaching the Bank\u2019s code of ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several former African presidents including Nigeria\u2019s Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan had rallied support for Adesina on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
