The Federal\nHigh Court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of the convener of\n#RevolutionNow protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, from the custody of the Department\nof State Service, DSS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice\nTaiwo Taiwo said the activist should be released to his lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana\n(SAN), who is to produce him for arraignment whenever he is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Falana had\ntold the court that since the detention order has expired and application for\nrenewal has been withdrawn, the court should make a consequential order and\nrelease Sowore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf the\ncourt wants him and i will produce him (Sowore).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Falana said\nthat the DSS was illegal and not the creation of National Security Act. That it\nwas SSS that was written in that section but the prosecution argued that it was\nthe same but just a semantics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Falana\nreferred the court to the case of MKO Abiola 1995 vs FG where the appellant was\ncharged with treasonable felony and the court granted him bail even on self\nrecognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Falana said\nhe was also charged with treasonable felony and Justice Taiwo Taiwo was the one\nwho defended him and he was granted bail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
