The Senate on Tuesday passed the bill for an Act to make\nprovisions for the protection from internet falsehood and manipulations and\nrelated matters, for a second reading.

\nIt is popularly known as anti-Social media bill, sponsored by the\nSenator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sani Musa.
\n
\nOnly Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State,\nspoke against the bill while Senator Bala Ibn Na\u2019Allah raised a constitutional\npoint of order to caution the red chamber against its passage.
\n
\nHowever, Senators Ibrahim Gobir, Elisha Abbo, and Abba Moro supported\nthe bill in their various contributions during the debate that lasted about 10\nminutes.

\nThe Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, put the passage of the bill for a\nsecond reading to a voice vote after confirming that no senator was ready to\nspeak against it.
