India\u2019s\nAnti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested a Nigerian man identified as Hope\nUzodima in Mumbai for alleged possession of dangerous weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect,\na 40-year-old man who lives in Bonkhode village in Koparkhairane was arrested\nfor possession of ivory and a sword cane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another\nNigerian named King Chukwudi Fidelis who is also in Police net fast-tracked his\narrest as he helped the police with information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n30-year-old Fidelis was arrested at Sector 13 in Koparkhairane last week for\nthe possession of 64 gm of methamphetamine powder worth rs3.2 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigations\nrevealed that he got the drug from Uzodima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile\nsearching Uzodima\u2019s house, we found a 12 inch-long elephant tusk worth rs1.65\nlakh and a sword cane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUpon\ninterrogation, he confessed that he had smuggled them from Nigeria,\u201d senior\npolice inspector Ravindra Budhwant with ANC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the\nduo had entered the country on tourist visas, which looked fake to the police,\nand they would be verifying them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accused\nclaimed to have a clothing business in the country but police suspect the claim\nwas an attempt to cover up the smuggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wildlife\nCrime Control Bureau confirmed the authenticity of the seized ivory, after\nwhich the police booked the duo under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act\nalong with those of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the\nArms Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Uzodima\nand Mr Fidelis are currently in judicial custody.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
