Late Nigerian striker, Rashidi Yekini has been rated a better forward compared to Ghana\u2019s Anthony Yeboah in an online poll by world football governing body, FIFA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yekini and Yeboah in their days made great impacts representing their respective clubs and countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Kaduna, Yekini started his professional career in the Nigerian league before hitting stardom to become the first Nigerian to win the CAF African footballer of the Year award in 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The late forward netted a career-best 34 in 32 games to help Vit\u00f3ria de Set\u00fabal promote from the second division in Portugal, before going on to become Primeira Liga\u2019s top scorer in the 1993\u201394 season with 21 goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Nigeria, he scored 37 goals in 58 appearances before retiring, emerging top scorer at the 1992 and 1994 Africa Cup of Nations after netting four and five goals respectively and scoring Nigeria\u2019s first ever World Cup goal in USA \u201994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yekini passed away in Ibadan on 4 May 2012 at the age of 48.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeboah, on his part, made his debut with the Black Stars in 1985 and won a total of 59 caps with the team, scoring 29 goals before retiring in 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
