{"id":22956,"date":"2020-07-01T10:44:52","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T10:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=22956"},"modified":"2020-07-01T10:44:52","modified_gmt":"2020-07-01T10:44:52","slug":"covid-19-kano-irs-sacks-308-workers-60-consultants-over-unprecedented-shortage-of-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=22956","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: Kano IRS sacks 308 workers, 60 consultants over \u201cunprecedented shortage of funds\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Gov-Ganduje-Kano.jpg\" alt=\"KANO: Ganduje demands public apology from Emir Sanusi for meaningful reconciliation\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) said it had to sacked 308 temporary workers and quash the operation of 60 consulting companies whose contracts had expired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KIRS Chairman, Bala Inuwa said the decision was taken because the service was witnessing an \u201cunprecedented shortage of funds\u201d following the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/tag\/COVID-19\">COVID-19 outbreak<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inuwa stated this when he addressed newsmen in the state on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cWe have temporarily relieved 308 temporary workers of their jobs pending the improvement of the Internally Generated Revenue in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe KIRS is facing an unprecedented shortage of funds with a loss of about 70% of IGR monthly and cannot sustain the services of the temporary workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen we came on board a few months back, based on their terms of interest, the contract of 60 consulting companies have expired since 2018.
