{"id":23807,"date":"2020-07-09T14:46:06","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T14:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=23807"},"modified":"2020-07-09T14:46:06","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T14:46:06","slug":"akpabio-shuns-nddc-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=23807","title":{"rendered":"Akpabio shuns NDDC probe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Godswill-Akpabio.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>An ad-hoc committee of the Nigerian Senate on Thursday expressed disappointment with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The senators had invited Akpabio to an investigative public hearing on the alleged financial recklessness in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawmakers at the end of the day were disappointed as the minister failed to show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Aminu Bisalla, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Akpabio could not honour the invitation because he was attending to some national issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairman of ad hoc committee, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, who was unhappy over the development, accused Akpabio of declining to acknowledge or respond to any of the panel\u2019s correspondences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the minister had also failed to reply to the committee\u2019s letter asking him to provide an update on the \u201cforensic audit he is supervising at the commission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fuming at the situation, Adetunmbi told Bisalla his excuse that Akpabio was attending to some national issues was unacceptable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An ad-hoc committee of the Nigerian Senate on Thursday expressed disappointment with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
