Mali\u2019s opposition leaders led by conservative Imam, Mahmoud Dicko have rejected concessions by President Ibrahim Boubacar Ke\u00efta, intended to quell growing unrest in the country while also calling on the incumbent to resign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dicko<\/a> who has been insisting on further reforms rejected concessions from the president, including the formation of a unity government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nouhoum Togo, a spokesman for the M5-RFP group of religious and political leaders which organised recent protests, said \u201cwe are not going to accept this nonsense\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe demand his resignation, plain and simple,\u201d he told Reuters news agency on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This came after an order was issued by the President Keita, to dissolve the constitutional court in an attempt to calm lingering anti-government protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Keita while announcing the dissolution of the court which has been at the centre of controversy after it overturned provisional results for parliamentary elections in March said that he would not tolerate violence in the country again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports<\/a> say opponents are unhappy with President Ke\u00efta\u2019s handling of Mali\u2019s long-running jihadist conflict, economic crisis, disputed elections and growing unrest which witnessed the killing of at least four people during street protests on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
