Vice President Daniel Kablan Duncan of Ivory Coast has tendered his resignation, Monday, days after the sudden death of the Prime Minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly; President Alassane Ouattara\u2019s preferred predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resignation which according to a top aide to the President, Patrick Achi, had been tendered since February was for \u201creasons of personal convenience\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe president of the republic would like to pay tribute to a great servant of the state [Duncan], a man of duty and commitment,\u201d Achi said to reporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development has further unsettled the ruling party\u2019s quest to finding a suitable replacement candidate since the president\u2019s formal announcement that he would not stand for a third term in office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
