Residents of Kwara State have been advised against paying unnecessary visits to hospitals so as to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state chapter of the NMA gave the warning on Monday at a press briefing in Ilorin the state capital, adding that 35 doctors had so far tested positive for COVID-19 since the virus manifested in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state Chairman of the NMA, Dr Kolade Solagberu, who addressed the press briefing, however noted that the association had not recorded any casualty among its members, cautioning residents to disregard the beliefs that COVID-19<\/a> was not real and was only a money-making avenue for the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dResidents should help the doctors to help them by not paying unnecessary visits or consultations to hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dFor now, people should avoid visiting the hospital except for life-threatening issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWe advise people to engage in e-health service instead of physical consultation to avoid contact as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dPeople should stop unnecessary visits to patients in the hospital. Those who follow a patient waiting to be attended to, are not encouraged for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dYou should just help us to help you because the less the number of patients we attend to, the less the chances of spreading the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dThis is because every patient is a potential COVID-19 case\u201d, Dr Solagberu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also commended governments at both federal and state levels for the continued closure of schools, adding that safety should be paramount until the coast is clear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
