{"id":24806,"date":"2020-07-17T13:48:56","date_gmt":"2020-07-17T13:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=24806"},"modified":"2020-07-17T13:49:03","modified_gmt":"2020-07-17T13:49:03","slug":"gov-matawalle-to-bandits-repent-surrender-one-riffle-get-two-cows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=24806","title":{"rendered":"GOV MATAWALLE TO BANDITS: Repent, surrender one riffle, get two cows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/images-1.jpeg\" alt=\"GOV MATAWALLE TO BANDITS: Repent, surrender one riffle, get two cows\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has promised a gift of two cows in exchange for every one AK47 rifle surrendered by any repentant bandits in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor made the promise on Thursday when he hosted the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, the Director General, Department of State Security (DSS), Yusuf Bichi and other security heads in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/lack-of-proper-moral-upbringing-major-cause-of-security-challenge-in-zamfara-gov-matawalle\/\">Matawalle<\/a>, the state government decided to offer cows in exchange for rifles because the animal would advance the economic interests of any repentant bandit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cFor every rifle submitted by a repentant bandit, there would be compensation of two cows. We don\u2019t want to give them money, so they wouldn\u2019t use the money to purchase new weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe said we will compensate them with cows, they need the cows to advance their economic interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also told the repentant bandits that all \u201cDabas\u201d (Camps) in the forests should be disbanded. We won\u2019t accept a situation where the bandits will disarm and then go back to the forest and be staying in these camps or Dabas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe asked them to either come to town and be reintegrated into the society or be given economic empowerment where they are, so that they would start a new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost of them are residing in forests under the shades of trees and inside caves.
