Today they sanctioned me. I don\u2019t want to be paranoid but I am starting to think they don\u2019t like me,\u201d Rubio tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This came days after Hong Kong\u2019s chief executive Carrie Lam and 10 other officials were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/china-imposes-sanctions-on-11-americans-over-hong-kong-11597056487\">sanctioned<\/a>&nbsp;by the United States of America for, \u201cundermining Hong Kong\u2019s autonomy and restricting the freedom of expression or assembly of the citizens of Hong Kong\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sanction was announced on Friday in a statement on the US Treasury\u2019s website which informed that the sanctions are being implemented under an executive order by President Donald Trump issued in mid-July aimed at punishing China over a new sweeping national security law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Republic of China has slammed sanctions on no fewer than 11 Americans, including senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, in retaliation for similar US moves prompted by Beijing\u2019s crackdown in Hong Kong.
