{"id":29928,"date":"2020-09-04T13:48:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-04T13:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=29928"},"modified":"2020-09-04T13:48:18","modified_gmt":"2020-09-04T13:48:18","slug":"alao-akala-reacts-to-makindes-statement-on-former-oyo-govs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=29928","title":{"rendered":"Alao-Akala reacts to Makinde\u2019s statement on former Oyo govs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/adebayo-alao-akala.jpg\" alt=\"Real reason Ayefele\u2019s radio station was demolished --Ex-gov Akala\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala has frowned at a statement credited to Governor Seyi Makinde in which he described former governors of the state as charlatans, saying the statement was uncharitable and unstatemanly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alao-Akala, stated this while speaking with journalists on Thursday in Iseyin, at the empowerment programme organised by the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Fatai Buhari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reacting to threats that he would be voted out of office in 2023,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/oyo-govt-awaits-court-ruling-on-removal-of-lga-chairmen-makinde\/\">Governor Makinde<\/a>&nbsp;had said that his detractors lacked political relevance and that the state would never again be governed by charlatans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Makinde said: \u201cLet me sound this: if I will not seek re-election, I am sure that Oyo State will never, again, be in the hands of charlatans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo, calm down. It is even too early to start talking about a second term. Some parties that do not have even one councilor are saying that they will send me out of the Government House in 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alao-Akala, while fielding questions on what he feels about Makinde\u2019s statement, said it was immature for the governor to have said what was credited to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cI don\u2019t believe he (Makinde) said that. But if he said that, he made a mistake. You don\u2019t address your predecessors as charlatans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t do that. It is unstatesmanly and uncharitable. You just have to talk like a statesman that he is going to be a statement after he must have left office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou would see the way we have been addressing him. None of us who has been in that office before has ever said that he is not doing very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe is doing his best. The best may not be enough for the people. When it is time for the campaign, we will campaign.
