Zainab Yusuf, Director; National Media Affairs cautioned against the proposed law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group warned that the bill will cause another civil war in Nigeria and also condemned the current National Assembly for their penchant in introducing \u201canti-people\u2019s legislation, with emphasis on the reintroduction of the Bill On Natural Resources aimed at stripping Southern Littoral states of their control of Water Resources.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/huriwa-coordinator-claims-gunmen-after-his-life-for-accusing-buharis-minister-of-corruption\/\">HURIWA<\/a>\u00a0reads thus in part: \u201cEvidently, the legislative and regulatory agenda of the present NASS as illustrated in several of their proposed legislations appear to be aimed at attacking freedom of speech, civil space and to abrogate property and economic rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust like the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/cama-pastors-are-ready-for-accountability-osinbajo\/\">Companies and Allied Maters Act, 2020 (CAMA 2020)<\/a>, an otherwise necessary and important legislation that has become divisive, the National Water Resources bill has also strayed into our delicate fault-lines and lost in the brackish waters of Nigeria\u2019s recurrent political criticisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe president should be worried that almost all his important policies have continued to energize certain concealed instincts in our society. And that Nigerians now appear incapable of having any decent conversation without resorting to ethnicity and religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll factors considered, therefore, this National Water Resources bill is obnoxious, draconic and imperialistic.
