The President of China, Xi Jinping has declared that his country acted in an \u201copen and transparent\u201d manner over the outbreak of Covid-19 and also made concrete efforts to help other nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xi who was speaking at a special ceremony in Beijing on Monday told the audience that China<\/a> did not hide anything about the virus, which first emerged in the central city of Wuhan late last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China staged a special event to recognise its \u2018role models\u2019 in the fight against the virus with Zhong Nanshan, China\u2019s top respiratory disease expert, awarded the Medal of the Republic \u2013 China\u2019s top honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other news, two of Australia\u2019s leading foreign correspondents in China have flown home for their own safety after they were questioned separately by China\u2019s Ministry of State Security, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
