The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has revealed that 86 suspected human traffickers have been arrested and 135 victims rescued during operations between January till date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commander in charge of NAPTIP<\/a> in Kano Zone, Mr Shehu Umar, who spoke to newsmen who accosted him in Kano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While speaking with newsmen, Omar said that NAPTIP rescued 135 victims comprised 23 males and 112 females within that time-frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further added that; \u201cThe command received 86 cases which involved 22 external and internal human trafficking, 28 child abuse cases, five child labour cases, four sexual abuse cases and six rape cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c21 of the cases were transferred to other relevant security agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOut of 86 suspects arrested, 44 were females and 42 males.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn receiving information, the agency conducted operations from Jan to Sept. 11 which led to the arrest of the suspects and rescuing of the victims,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
