{"id":31683,"date":"2020-09-17T08:20:45","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T08:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=31683"},"modified":"2020-09-17T08:20:52","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T08:20:52","slug":"lagos-assembly-to-increase-contractors-mobilisation-fee-to-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=31683","title":{"rendered":"Lagos assembly to increase contractors\u2019 mobilisation fee to 40%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Obasa-.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lagos State House of Assembly will increase contractors\u2019 mobilisation fee to 40 percent in the ongoing amendment of the state\u2019s Public Procurement Agency Bill, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairman of House Committee on Public Procurement, Rauf Age-Sulaimon, disclosed this at a one-day public hearing in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Age-Sulaimon said in the amended bill, the House would increase advance payment to contractors from 20 percent to 40 percent in order to encourage them to do their job effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cAs you are talking about development, procurement is the most important aspect because if government projects are not properly executed, of course you will not see the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have been talking about the money needed for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/lagos-projects-6bn-export-from-lekki-free-trade-zone-by-2020\/\">projects<\/a>&nbsp;and the economy is not smiling at all and for us to support contractors, there is a need for the government to encourage them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe essence of this amendment is to increase advance payment from 20 percent to 40 percent so that the person involved will be able to do the job effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will ensure that contractors adhere strictly to the terms of the contract. It will benefit the masses because it will not be winner-takes-all. It will not be the survival of the fittest because the fittest may not be capable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBidding for contract is open to everybody.
