{"id":32365,"date":"2020-09-24T14:18:35","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T14:18:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=32365"},"modified":"2020-09-24T14:18:40","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T14:18:40","slug":"shutdown-of-refineries-in-nigeria-others-to-help-asia-europe-petrol-sales-sp-global","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=32365","title":{"rendered":"Shutdown of refineries in Nigeria, others to help Asia, Europe petrol sales \u2013S&#038;P Global"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Petrol-Oil-pipes.jpg\" alt=\"Shutdown of refineries in Nigeria, others to help Asia, Europe petrol sales \u2013S&amp;P Global\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Refinery outages in Nigeria and other African countries are projected to ramp up gasoline demand and in turn brighten Asian and European markets\u2019 chances of earning bigger revenue, London-based market intelligence firm,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/profile\/company\/1569993D:LN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">S&amp;P Global Platts<\/a>&nbsp;said Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven Africa\u2019s healthy appetite for gasoline, market participants expect Middle Eastern produces to shift their attention away from Asia and focus on Africa instead,\u201d the global market watchdog said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargoes have been increasingly moving away from storage tanks in Africa to Asia and Europe because refineries in Nigeria, South Africa and Cameroun are shutting down for maintenance, enabling income that could have been generated locally to drift away to economies outside the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s 125,000 barrels per day (bpd) Warri refinery and 110,000 bpd Kaduna refinery, South Africa\u2019s 100,000 bpd Astron Energy refinery and Cameroon\u2019s Limbe refinery are offline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCargoes to Africa typically come from the Middle East or the Mediterranean given the geographical ease of movement.
