{"id":32375,"date":"2020-09-24T14:21:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T14:21:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=32375"},"modified":"2020-09-24T14:21:52","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T14:21:52","slug":"ize-iyamu-says-he-didnt-beg-obaseki-to-return-to-apc-after-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=32375","title":{"rendered":"Ize-Iyamu says he didn\u2019t beg Obaseki to return to APC after election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Osagie-Ize-Iyamu.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has described news reports that he asked the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to APC as false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/two-days-after-ize-iyamu-yet-to-congratulate-obaseki-may-head-to-court\/\">Ize-Iyamu<\/a>&nbsp;who spoke through his campaign organisation, in a statement by the Director of Communication and Media, Prince John Mayaki, called on the traditional media to verify news information before publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, while he noted that those circulating the news are tools of the opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG) said: \u201cMany media houses have once again lent themselves to the fabrications of Obaseki and the PDP, as they did throughout the campaigns and the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe warned many times the media should beware of fabrications from Obaseki and the PDP\u2019s camp, but they did not listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat is why they have reported that the election was free and fair, and that is why they have said our candidate pleaded with Obaseki to come back to APC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019The video in reference is from three months ago, not after the election but doctored by Obaseki\u2019s media handlers to seek undue legitimacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wonder if the media were being sponsored by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/lets-put-our-differences-aside-and-move-edo-forward-obaseki-tells-oshiomhole-ize-iyamu\/\">Obaseki<\/a>&nbsp;and the PDP, as it seems implausible that they actually believed the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is even more so, when reporters in Benin City would report Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who is currently in Abuja, where the various media organisations are also domiciled, this is to tell you the suspicion inherent in the viral video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPastor Ize-Iyamu was reported in the stories as speaking from Abuja but it was the Benin reporters that covered the story. Were the reporters transported to Abuja?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDo these media agencies actually believe the stories they carry? Obaseki and the PDP have a way of leaking false news to the media.
