Calls have continued to grow for the removal of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for allegedly engaging in acts unbecoming of a traditional ruler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest petition has emerged from a group of 12 chiefs under the aegis of the Concerned Kingmakers of Iwoland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a letter titled \u2018Petition for the removal of Oba Adewale Akanbi (Oluwo of Iwo) from the throne of Iwoland\u2019, dated September 9 which was made available to the media on Wednesday, the 12 chiefs demanded that the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola removes Oba Akanbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chiefs accused Oba Akanbi of declaring himself \u2018Emperor,\u2019 a title they said was unknown to Iwo history, adding that the Oluwo<\/a> was also engaging in fights against some notable personalities within and outside his domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition reads thus in part; \u201cOba Adewale Akanbi has penchant for fighting notable personalities within and outside Iwoland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt the moment, Oba Adewale fought Chief Abiola Ogundokun, Imran Adio, (a leading Islamic cleric) whom he removed as Otun Ajanasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe insulted the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Orangun of Ila, and other prominent Obas in the state,\u201d the petition added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the claims were immediately rebuffed by the Press Secretary to the Oluwo, Alli Ibrahim, in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Ibrahim, some of those who signed the petition were pressured into doing it by \u201ca detractor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \u201cThe detractor has gone beyond many times to discredit Oba Akanbi and failed serially. The recent was to divide the kingmakers, but it was dead on arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe achievements of Oluwo endeared him to Iwo (people) more. You can\u2019t ruin down what your children may benefit (from) in the future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
