Guinea\u2019s opposition leader, Cellou Dalein Diallo, has declared himself winner of Sunday\u2019s presidential election despite the electoral commission stating that vote counting was still ongoing and that it was the only body mandated to announce the winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Diallo told journalists and his supporters on Monday that he had won the first round despite \u201canomalies\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Diallo\u2019s supporters<\/a>\u00a0who had taken to the streets to celebrate were dispersed by police. He later tweeted that three people had been killed and several others injured by the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before counting began, Diallo\u2019s supporters decried ballot-box stuffing and said its observers encountered obstructions at polling stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guinea\u2019s Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana also said that there had been \u201csmall incidents here and there during the relatively peaceful election<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
