In fact only modern\nman with all his fancy tools and technology is capable of replicating the Giza\npyramid. The extreme scientific accuracy of the pyramid often gave birth to a\nquestion \u2013 \u201cWas the Great Pyramid of Giza built by Egyptians or was it the work\nof some extraterrestrial life form, far more intelligent that the ancient\npeople?\u201d Well, since we don\u2019t have any evidence of aliens at work, we are\npretty much happy to accept that the ancient Egyptians made it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article we\nwill be looking at 60 interesting Great Pyramid of Giza facts and in process\nlook into the amazing mathematical precisions achieved. However, there are a\nfew questions that we cannot answer \u2013 questions that were once asked by the\nfamous Erich Von Daniken. We will go through the question at the end of this\narticle but until then, let us learn about this ancient wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interesting Great Pyramid of Giza Facts: 1-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong>&nbsp;According to Egyptologists, the Great\nPyramid of Giza was a tomb,&nbsp;<strong>designed and built for Pharaoh Khufu<\/strong>&nbsp;of\n4th Dynasty Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong>&nbsp;Since it was built for Khufu, the\npyramid is&nbsp;<strong>also known as the Pyramid of Khufu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>&nbsp;This Great Pyramid is one of 3 pyramids\nthat were built in Giza and was the largest of all.&nbsp;<strong>For 3,800 years\nstraight<\/strong>, this pyramid&nbsp;<strong>remained world\u2019s&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/factslegend.org\/20-facts-burj-khalifa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>tallest\nstructure<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;that was made by\nman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>&nbsp;The two other large pyramids (not as\nlarge as this one) were built for Pharaoh Menkaure and Pharaoh Khafre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong>&nbsp;As far as the size of the Great Pyramid\nof Giza is concerned,&nbsp;<strong>its original height was 481 feet or 146.5 meters<\/strong>.\nHowever, because of 3,800 years of erosion caused by natural elements like rain\nand wind, the pyramid lost some of its height from the very top and today it\nstands 455 feet tall, which is 138.8 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong>&nbsp;Experts say that it took about&nbsp;<strong>23\nyears to complete<\/strong>&nbsp;this massive structure and the&nbsp;<strong>overall\nweight<\/strong>&nbsp;of the structure is estimated to be around&nbsp;<strong>5.9 million\ntonnes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong>&nbsp;The Great Pyramid\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>base is a perfect square<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>each\nside of the square measuring 756 feet<\/strong>. The&nbsp;<strong>base spans over 13 acres\nof land<\/strong>&nbsp;and is big enough to accommodate nearly 10 football fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Each side<\/strong>&nbsp;of the pyramid\ncovers an&nbsp;<strong>area of 5.5 acres<\/strong>. Some of the stone blocks were as heavy as 30 tons and some weighed\nwell over 50 tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12.<\/strong>&nbsp;The total area covered by the pyramid\u2019s\nbase is 592,000 ft2 or 55,000 m2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>13.<\/strong>&nbsp;When the pyramid was built, the&nbsp;<strong>entire\nstructure was covered<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>with<\/strong>&nbsp;what is known as&nbsp;<strong>casing\nstones<\/strong>. Casing stones were actually limestones that were extremely well\npolished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>14.<\/strong>&nbsp;According to experts, some&nbsp;<strong>144,000\ncasing stones were used<\/strong>. Each of these casing stones had a&nbsp;<strong>thickness\nof nearly 100 inches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15.<\/strong>&nbsp;These&nbsp;<strong>casing stones were also\nextremely flat<\/strong>. So flat that in mathematical terms, the&nbsp;<strong>accuracy of\nthe stones\u2019 flatness stood at 1\/100th or 0.01 inch of perfect straight<\/strong>. The\naverage weight of each casing stone stood at 20 tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>16.<\/strong>&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>casing stones were so shiny\nthat they reflected sunlight<\/strong>&nbsp;in such a way that the&nbsp;<strong>whole\nstructure looked like a massive white jewel<\/strong>&nbsp;sparkling in daylight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>17.<\/strong>&nbsp;Only a few of these casing stones remain\ntoday near the base of the pyramid. The remaining were removed after a\nmassive&nbsp;<strong>earthquake that took place in 14th century<\/strong>&nbsp;shook the\npyramid and&nbsp;<strong>loosened the casing stones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>18.<\/strong>&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>Arabs then ripped off<\/strong>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>casing\nstones<\/strong>&nbsp;and used them for&nbsp;<strong>building mosques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>19.<\/strong>&nbsp;As far as the beauty of the Great\nPyramid was concerned in its full glory, it is being said that the&nbsp;<strong>highly\npolished casing stones<\/strong>&nbsp;served the purpose of&nbsp;<strong>gigantic mirrors<\/strong>,\nwhich led to so powerful and&nbsp;<strong>brilliant light reflections<\/strong>&nbsp;that\nthose reflections could easily be&nbsp;<strong>seen from&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/factslegend.org\/20-interesting-moon-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>moon<\/strong><\/a>.
