{"id":37842,"date":"2020-12-15T15:30:03","date_gmt":"2020-12-15T15:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=37842"},"modified":"2020-12-15T15:30:10","modified_gmt":"2020-12-15T15:30:10","slug":"npa-spends-n807m-to-rehabilitate-building-burnt-during-endsars-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=37842","title":{"rendered":"NPA spends N807m to rehabilitate building burnt during #EndSARS protest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Hadiza-Bala-Usman.jpg\" alt=\"Auditor General discovers foul play in N7.5bn NPA contract, wants MD punished\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Managing Director, Hadiza Usman, on Monday said N807 million was spent to rehabilitate aspects of the agency\u2019s building set on fire during #EndSARS protest in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to her, the agency incurred about a billion naira loss following&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/hoodlums-destroy-ondo-monarchs-palace-twice-in-one-week\/\">hoodlums<\/a>&nbsp;vandalism of its property during the protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usman, who disclosed this during a budget defence session before the Senate Committee on Maritime in the National Assembly, added that the hoodlums burnt twenty-seven vehicles, stole three others and looted some office equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noting that one of the stolen vehicles had been recovered, she said the N807 million to rehabilitate the burnt portion of the agency\u2019s building was different from the amount that would be used to replace the 27 vehicles set ablaze and stolen ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs it relates to every other aspect of the building, we had made a detailed submission, attaching a bill of quantity of \u20a6807 million as the cost of rehabilitating the aspect of the building that were set on fire,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs it relates to our motor vehicles, 27 vehicles were set on fire.
