{"id":44973,"date":"2021-06-25T09:26:28","date_gmt":"2021-06-25T09:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=44973"},"modified":"2021-06-25T09:26:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-25T09:26:36","slug":"inec-dismisses-report-on-apgas-disqualification-from-anambra-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=44973","title":{"rendered":"INEC dismisses report on APGA\u2019s disqualification from Anambra election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Mahmood-Yakubu.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday dismissed a report on the purported disqualification of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A faction of APGA led by Chief Jude Okeke had on Wednesday suspended the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, from the party for alleged anti-party activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soludo had since secured the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ripplesnigeria.com\/my-purported-removal-as-apga-chief-laughable-victor-oye\/\">APGA<\/a>&nbsp;ticket for the Anambra election after winning the party\u2019s primaries held in Awka, the state capital, the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, who dismissed the report in a chat with journalists in Abuja, insisted that there are no factions in APGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The development means INEC recognised the exercise that produced Soludo as the party\u2019s candidate for the governorship election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oyekanmi said: \u201cAs far as INEC is concerned, there are no factions in APGA. The commission deals with only one National Chairman and one Secretary of the party.
