A 28-year-old man, Yakubu Afonla, who allegedly defiled a neighbour\u2019s four-year-old daughter was on Monday tried before a Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court in Ikeja, Lagos State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NAN reports that the police charged Afonla with defilement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Benson Emuerhi, explained to the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 11 at Balogun Street, Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He alleged that the defendant defiled his neighbour\u2019s daughter by inserting his penis inside her vagina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emuerhi said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In ruling, Chief Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat ordered the defendant ro be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre pending when the case would be filed at the Ikeja Special and Sexual Offences Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
