Blessing Oborududu celebrates after her win<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Nigeria\u2019s Blessing Oborodudu has qualified for the final in the women\u2019s wrestling event at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her qualification guarantees Team Nigeria a silver or gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oborududu wins 7-2 against Battsetseg Soronzobold of Mongolia to reach the final of the 68kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The impressive Nigerian wrestler faces America\u2019s Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She had defeated Azerbaijani\u2019s Elis Manolova and Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan to advance to her first Olympic semi-final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reacting, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, described Oduduru as a blessing to Nigeria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \u201cThis is a real Blessing to Nigeria. Thank you Blessing for wiping away the pain of the near misses recorded in other events. Nigerians are proud of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe display is typical of the never say die Nigerian spirit. Keep the tempo going until we reach the ultimate which is the gold. Don\u2019t give up the fight until you re-write Nigerian Olympics history with a gold medal in the kitty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odunayo Adekuoroye, Ese Brume and Grace Nwokocha are still in the running for medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dare also commended Tobi Amusan\u2019s fourth-place finish at the women\u2019s 100m hurdles final on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \u201cTobi Amusan still remains one of Nigeria\u2019s greatest competitors in athletics. She gave a good account of herself. We celebrate her exploits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe important thing to note is that many of our top athletes made it and are still making it to the finals in many events particularly here at the Olympics; a competition of huge magnitude where winners are separated in milliseconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis in itself is an achievement and proof that we are in the committee of the best in respect to many sports in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
