{"id":46811,"date":"2021-08-20T10:08:58","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T10:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=46811"},"modified":"2021-08-20T10:09:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T10:09:08","slug":"nigerian-academy-students-build-solar-powered-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/?p=46811","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Academy students build solar-powered car"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"674\" height=\"498\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-46816\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/solar-car.jpg\" data-object-fit=\"cover\"\/><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" src=\"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/solar-panel-cars.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46817\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>NIGERIA\u2019s drive towards renewable energy as a substitute to environmentally harmful fossil fuels has received a remarkable boost following the design and construction of a solar-powered electric vehicle by Zaria Academy Centre for Innovation and Renewable Energy, ZACIRE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Code-named Munyegal Z20E, the technological breakthrough has been acknowledged by the Federal Government which recently presented a patent certificate to Zaria Academy through the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The certificate bearing patent number NG\/P\/2021\/5, was presented to the Chairman of Zaria Academy, Dr. Haroun Adamu, by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, who commended the institution for its commitment to the development of renewable energy in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"674\" height=\"498\" src=\"http:\/\/watchdogplusmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/solar-car-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46818\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Giving a brief insight into the project, Dr. Adamu said Munyegal Z20E was designed, simulated and constructed by a team at Zaria Academy to address the economic challenge posed by the rising cost of petrol and key into the global quest for a renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The car was built with 90 percent metal as a teaching aid involving a mechanical and electrical technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Munyegal Z20E is propelled by DC (direct current) electric motors using electric energy in rechargeable batteries as power source to move about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zaria Academy\u2019s solar-powered electric car project is in tandem with efforts being made in the Nigerian government through the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, to ensure that the country is not left behind in the global quest for a renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NADDC recently commissioned solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, UDUS, and the University of Lagos, while a third one is expected to be opened soon in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NIGERIA\u2019s drive towards renewable energy as a substitute to environmentally harmful fossil fuels has received a remarkable boost following the design and construction of a solar-powered electric vehicle by Zaria Academy Centre for Innovation and Renewable Energy, ZACIRE.
