UNITED States has declared the leader of Boko Haram terrorist organisation, Imam Abubakar Shekau, wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  A $7 million (N2.5 billion) bounty was also placed on him for anyone with information that may lead to his arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  A post on Twitter handle of U.S Department Rewards for Justice Programme yesterday said that this has become necessary to track Shekau\u2019s terrorist activities in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  \u201cThe United States Department of State is offering a reward of up to $7 million for information leading to the arrest to the terrorist Abubakar Shekau boss of #BokoHaram. Mr. Shekau took over the leadership of the deadly group in 2010 following the killing of Mohammed Yusuf, its former leader. He garnered public attention in 2014 globally following the abduction of over 300 female schoolchildren from a school in the town of Chibok, in Borno State. United States will reward any information on his location with $7 million,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  It will be recalled that the United States Department of state designated Shekau as a global terrorist for coordinating series of insurgency attacks in Nigeria and neighbouring Chad basin countries in Niger, Cameroon and Chad.
