Norwich\nCity are delighted to announce that center-back Akin Famewo has signed a new\nthree-and-a-half-year contract with the Club, extending his stay at Carrow Road\nuntil June 2023.
\n
\nFamewo\njoined City\u2019s academy in January 2019 from Luton Town and became the captain of\nDavid Wright\u2019s Under-23s team for the 2019-20 season.
\n
\nThe\ndefender has also been involved in Daniel Farke\u2019s first-team setup in training\nand match day squads this season.
\n
\nSpeaking\nexclusively to canaries.co.uk, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s hard to describe how I\u2019m feeling\nright now because there\u2019s a lot of excitement and good vibes.
\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s been\na big step up to working with the first-team because the intensity of the\nPremier League is a lot faster and stronger, but I feel like I\u2019m learning and\nadapting to it.\u201d
\n
\nFamewo was\nfirst named on the bench for City\u2019s first-team squad in October\u2019s Premier\nLeague game at home to Aston Villa, and travelled to the south-coast for the\nfollowing game against AFC Bournemouth.

\n\u201cThe first\ntime I went into training with the first-team I was very excited,\u201d he said.\n\u201cIt\u2019s where I want to be, and it was just a good feeling. I\u2019m excited to learn\nand develop.
\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s not\nas easy to boss people about now but no-one takes anything personally in games!\nIt\u2019s all about helping each other out and playing as a unit.
\n
\n\u201cThe aim\nis to play and eventually be involved in the first-team, so I\u2019m taking good\nsteps. I want to represent the club for as long as possible.

\n\u201cMy mum\u2019s side\nof the family are from Norwich so they\u2019re extremely happy and my dad\u2019s very\nproud as well!\u201d

\nHead Coach\nDaniel Farke said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted for Akin. He\u2019s developed a lot over the last\nperiod and his new deal is well deserved.
