The action gives Trump the powers to insist that the private sector produce supplies for national defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president previously ordered car maker GM to produce ventilators, using the Defense Production Act, the first utilization of the measure during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
