The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, has announced the donation of relief materials to residents of Ile-Ife to cushion the effect of Coronavirus in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was made known in a statement sent by the spokesperson of the institution, Abiodun Olanrewaja, on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the food items were delivered to the President of Ife Development Board, Lawrence Awowoyin, at Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi\u2019s palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The items include 179 packs of 5kg Garri, seven and half bags of 50kg Garri, 200 packs of OAU bottled waters, 500 loaves of OAU bread and 200 bottles of 250ml \u2018ifetizers\u2019 (hand sanitizers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While delivering the items, OAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, said he hoped the community will not record any case of Coronavirus.\u201dWe are aware of the fact that the lockdown has denied members of the community the opportunity to go about their normal daily activities, thereby negatively affecting their means of livelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe, however, take solace in the fact that since the advent of the Coronavirus disease in Nigeria and Osun state, there is no single case of COVID -19 in Ile-Ife and it\u2019s environs. It is our prayer that no-case situation remains so in the entirety Ife community\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
