BEST LIVES FOUNDATION SUPPORTS LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT IN DISTRIBUTION OF PALLIATIVES TO RESIDENTS OF ALIMOSHO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

It is no longer news that Best lives Foundation was established for the masses and especially the vulnerables amongst whom are the widows, the less-privileged, the orphans, the aged and the disabled. On various occassions, the foundation has reached out to widows and women who need medical intervention as regards their health. Diagnosis, medical tests, prescription and dispensing of relevant drugs have been the hallmark of the Best Lives medical centre operating as an offshoot of Best Lives Foundation.The Education sector of the Foundation which is Best Lives Schools has been in the forefront catering for the educational needs of the less-privileged by getting across to them affordable learning opportunities.

Since the lockdown in Lagos State,, there has been a need to support the Lagos State government in reaching out to Lagosians with palliatives to douse the effect of the Stay-at-home directive from the Federal and State Government. 

Best lives Foundation announced intentions to distribute palliatives at Alimosho Local Government Area and Lagosians reacted with immense gratitude. This took place on the 2nd day Of May, 2020 at Best Lives Schools compound situated at 17, Idowu Bashorun Street, off Adebimpe Street, Council Bus Stop, Idimu in Lagos State of Nigeria.

The palliatives distributed were basically

1. Hygiene products like facemasks and toiletries and

2. Foodstuffs like bread, Uncooked rice, Spaghetti, Garri and beans, as these are basic items the people need to enable them stay at home and avoid being infected with the deadly Coronavirus(COVID-!9).

In all, a total of over 200 families in Alimosho Local Government were reached with these palliatives.

A lecture titled “The five (5) things to do to avoid being infected by Coronavirus” was also delivered by the founder Prince Akanni Shonde (JP).to the residents as they were collecting their palliatives. The lecture has as its title;

1. Abiding by all Hygiene Rules. Cleanliness is next to godliness.

2. Upholding Respiratory Etiquettes: Coughing or sneezing into a toilet paper or handkerchief and disposing of the handkershief in the dustbin. When yoiu use a handkershief, it should be thoroughly washed and pressed with a hot pressing iron. When one is neither with a toilet paper or handkerchief, you are to cough or sneeze into your elbow.

3. Use of face mask when going outside the house or when you find yourself in the midst of others.

4. Washing of hands with soap and water regularly or using an alcohol-based sanitizer to clean the hands.

5. Social distancing. As much as possible, avoiding contact with other people.

Those who received palliatives were also taught how to use the face mask, how to get it cleaned and how to dispose of disposable face mask properly after use.

He stated he was following after the legacy of his late father Chief K. O. M. Shonde.

He rounded up by stating that this activity of distributing palliatives is just a tip of the iceberg as the plan is to reach out with distribution of palliatives to seven other Local Government Areas that have been earmarked to benefit from the generosity of this Foundation, so that on the whole, ten local governments would have been reached. Alimosho local government is the third local government to benefit from this Foundation.
