Coronavirus: Nigerian mum and daughter get N3.9m each in US for saving lives

– The mother and daughter were rewarded with $10,000 (N3,909,800) each for saving the lives of COVID-patients in New York

– The duo moved from Arkansas to New York to help save lives of patients there.

A Nigerian mum and her daughter in the United States have been rewarded with $10,000 (N3,909,800) each for saving the lives of COVID-patients in New York. An American TV host, Jimmy Kimmel, called the duo during Jimmy Kimmel Live and expressed gratitude to Uchenna Onyia and her daughter Ona for taking care of COVID-19 patients in New York. The mother and daughter travelled from Arkansas to New York to help save the lives of patients there.

In another development, US government recognises, celebrates Nigerian man Adeniyi Ayoola for feeding 60 families during lockdown (see photos) Jimmy said tribute is being paid to those on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic and declared Uchenna and her daughter last week’s Health Care Heroes. Jimmy and American actress Courteney Cox surprised the duo with the cash. They also surprised them and other nurses in their hotel with New York style pizza. The TV host said they were also given hand sanitiser and skincare gift boxes for all the other nurses in their units.
