More than 5.3 million people have contracted the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, around the world; 188 countries and territories. At least 341,000 people have died from the complications arising from the virus globally while about 1.9 million patients have recovered, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.The World Health Organisation (WHO) has since labelled Covid-19 a pandemic but there are still a handful of countries that have not yet reported any cases, according to a report by Al Jazeera. The most popular/prominent among the countries is North Korea.

It had been earlier reported that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday, May 23 stated that there are 242 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria. This means there are now 7526 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. While 2174 have been discharged, 221 people have died due to the viral disease. With the new figures, Nigeria is gradually inching closer to the 10,000 mark.
