587 new cases of COVID-19 take Nigeria’s total to 17,735; death toll now 469

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night confirmed 587 fresh COVID-19 cases in 17 states of the federation and Abuja.
In its regular update on the pandemic situation in Nigeria, the NCDC said 14 persons died from COVID-19 complications on Wednesday.
Consequently, the COVID-19 death toll increased from 455 to 469.
Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 17,735.
Meanwhile, 5,967 patients had been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Wednesday night.
The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Lagos (155), Edo (75), FCT (67), Rivers (65), Oyo (56), Delta (50), Bayelsa (25), Plateau (18), Kaduna (18), Enugu (17), and Borno (12).
Others are – Ogun (12), Ondo (7), Kwara (4), Kano (2), Gombe (2), Sokoto (1), and Kebbi (1).
The NCDC said: “17,735 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.
“Discharged: 5,967 AND Deaths: 469.”
