Buhari-backed NEC sacks Oshiomhole-led NWC

The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday dissolved the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) formerly headed by Adams Oshiomhole.

The APC NEC meeting held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, took the decision on the heels of the protracted leadership crisis that had been rocking the party.

Bashir Ahmad, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari revealed this in a tweet on his Twitter handle.

He tweeted: “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved.”

It is also understood that a former National Secretary of the party and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has been appointed as the APC Caretaker Chairman and chair of an Extraordinary Convention to be held at a leter date.
