Rotn. Chibuzor Okpala bows out as president.
This is an excerpt from the President´s Farewell Message:
“With a heart filled with appreciation and jubilation, I happily looked back over the last 11 months and couldn’t stop smiling with the constellation of activities deemly executed by the prestigious members of this club.
Now looking beyond the last 11 months, the stories of our 15 years of services to humanity have got no place to be contained, indeed we are victorious!!!
It’s been 11 crystal months of growth, dedication, commitment, passion and limitless charity to humanity. Rotary club of Ogudu GRA has not only expanded over the years, but risen to an enviable height among notable clubs in the district. This year being the most challenging rotary year since the inception of covid-19, couldn’t wither us but rather, pushed us to cease every golden opportunity to expand our tentacles, thereby growing the club by massive numbers. On this note, allow me to salute and congratulate all distinguished Rotarians for emerging the overall best club in the District Membership Net. Special Kudos to all members that sponsored each Rotarian this Rotary year.
The rotary club of Ogudu GRA set out this rotary year with over 20 million naira allocated for its community service projects and other planned activities in the 2020/2021 Rotary year which commenced in July 2020.
During our last Fellowship ceremony/Official Handover Ceremony, I stated that my priority was to ensure members are fully engaged during the Rotary year. I also stated that the club had tripled its effort in every way to broaden its significance and relevance in the community thus creating a continuous success for the club.
The club has been able to execute pertinent projects that are in line with the seven areas of focus which include:
Environmental Support.
Maternal and child health
Literacy and Education
Peace and Conflict resolution
Economic and Community development
Water and Sanitation as well and
Disease prevention and control.
Of course, It is of no doubt that these key projects had impacted the lives of both the lay and professionals in the society. In specifics, some of the key projects, support and activities carried out by the club
are:
- Beautification & Planting of Trees at Ogudu Gardens.
- MEMBERSHIP DRIVE – HANGOUT WITH 4GEEZ.
- Senitization/Education Program to curb Violence against Children.
- Polio Eradication Bill Board Advocacy.
- Dump Site (Incinerator) at Ogudu Junior Grammar School.
- N1, 000, 000.00 Micro Credit Scheme for 20 Beneficiaries.
- Provision of water Borehole at Alapere Primary School.
- Presentation of Scholarship cheque to the little saints Orphanage home.
- Polio Viewing Party to mark Polio Day/IPDG Welcome party.
- Prostrate Cancer Screening
- Upgrade of Ogudu GRA Health Center.
- Cervical Cancer Screening.
- Vocational Talk
- Talk Peace and Conflict Resolution (Joint Project)
- Talk on Peace and conflict Resolution at the club.
- Donations of 35 Maternity kits at Ogudu Health Center.
- Easter Visit to Little Saint Orphanage with the donation of N150, 000.00 and foodstuff.
- Donations of Wheelchairs to Polio victims.
- Execution of Medical outreach at Isheri North to mark Rotary Family Health Day.
- SUPPORT FOR PROSTATE CANCER PAID FOR 100 MEN.
- SUPPORT FOR DIST.MEGA MICRO CREDIT
- DG’s Visit.
- Formation of 2 Interact Clubs and Revival of 2 Interact Clubsand Rotaract Club of Ogudu GRA.
- DEWEF.
- DISTRICT Dues.
- Polioplus payment.
- (All-White Beach Party) Membership Drive and Retention program.
- INVESTITURE.
- Annual Retreat.
- Charter Day/15th Year Anniversary/Magazine/Club handbook Launch.
- Dues Debt Reduction from 3.4M as inherited to Less than 1M.
All these projects support and activities would for sure put an unforgettable smile on the faces of members, the less privileged and even the well-to-do in both near and distanced communities.
I am also using this opportunity to thank the incoming President in the person of Rotn. Debo Adebayo and Board of Directors for the new feat recently achieved…we hope and trust in their capabilities that they will project us even beyond now…!
A special appreciation to all who made these feats a success.
