Sanusi: Top emirate council member resigns after sack of Emir

– A top member of the Kano emirate council, Mujtaba Abba, has tendered his resignation – Abba also voluntarily gave up his traditional title as the ‘Falakin Kano’ – The former member of the council is said to be a half brother of Muhammad Sanusi II Mujtaba Abba, the principal private secretary to the recently dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has resigned his membership of the state’s emirate council. In his resignation letter, Abba also voluntarily forfeited his traditional title of ‘Falakin Kano’, Premium Times reports. Abba who is a half brother of Sanusi in his letter expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the council for the esteemed opportunity to serve the state in that capacity. He also thanked the entire staff members of the council for their cooperation and support given to him throughout his stay in office. Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that renowned human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, had spoken against the dethronement and banishment of Sanusi. Sanusi, according to his lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), had vowed to contest the decision of the state government in a court of law. Moreover, Legit.ng reported that Sanusi had reportedly left his residence in Loko, a town in Nasarawa state, where he was banished to. Sanusi, shortly after arriving the town, was airlifted in a helicopter to another town, Awe, also in Nasarawa. There has been no official word on why he was relocated.
