2019: Comrade Okoroji calls on Nigerians to return PMB
Oluwatosin Shonde:
A right activist and chairman of the June 12 Coalition, Comrade Linus Okoroji has called on Nigerians to return President Muhammadu Buhari in office in the forthcoming general election in the country.
Okoroji’s position was premised on the fact that four years of the present administration is not sufficient enough to right the wrongs of sixteen years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during which they pillaged the economy and institutionalized corruption. He dropped this hint in Lagos recently while fielding questions from newsmen on the state of the nation.
He further argued that the present administration had laid some developmental foundations aimed at improving the economy in the nearest future, adding that removing the president in 2019 would distort the progress already recorded so far.
Okoroji who is also the chief executive officer of ‘Humanity Services’ has been a proponent of the change mantra of this administration. He maintained that by 2023 the present administration would have had sufficient time to effect necessary changes failure of which Nigerians would then justifiably change the government.
On the clamour for the restructuring of the country, the comrade called on the present administration to urgently put in place mechanism that would lead to the entrenchment of true federalism to meet the yearning and aspirations of well-meaning Nigerians.
The chairman of June 12 Coalition commended president Buhari for the honour done to the late Chief MKO Abiola, his family and the coalition community and requested that he should go a step further by declaring him winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and adequate compensation paid to his family.
He also called for the establishment of the ‘Truth Commission’ that would be saddled with the responsibility of recovering stolen funds from national treasury.
